アクセスログを見ると、映画の森てんこ森のレヴューページが、海外からの検索にも随分ヒットしています。それはタイトルバーとGoogle登録に英語題を書いてあるから、英語キーワード検索でヒットしているのでしょう。でも折角外国の方に訪問頂いても滞在時間が０秒なんていうのもあります。日本語は彼らにチンプンカンプンだからすぐ出て行かれてしまうのでしょう。これは一寸残念です。 |

それで以前から英語でレヴューが書ければいいなと思っていました。SMAPの香取慎吾くんの「ベラベラブック」でペラペラ英語に肖（あやか）ってではないですけど、一度試しに、幸が正月早々アップした映画『
ウォーク・トゥ・リメンバー (2002) A WALK
TO REMEMBER 』のレヴューのイングリッシュ・バージョン（英語版）を作成してみました。これは既に書いてある日本語解説を英語訳にしたものではありません。映画から新たに感じたことや情報を、幸の拙い英語で綴りました。日本人で英語が得意な方にも是非読んで頂いて、単連語、文法、イデオムや表現ミスなどチェック頂ければ、とても勉強になりますのでよろしくお願い致します。 因みに、英作文の署名は「Satico Da Bonheur（サチコ・ダ・ボヌール）」にしました。「幸福家のサチコ」と言う意味です。 以下に幸の英語レヴューと日本語訳を書きます。 |

[ATTN: This review reveals the movie content.] --「注意：このレヴューはネタばれがあります。」 I'll try to write a review of English version of the movie of “A Walk To Remember” although I have already written another review of “A Walk To Remember” in Japanese. --既に「ウォーク・トゥ・リメンバー」の日本語レヴューは書いてあるが、英語版の「ウォーク・トゥ・リメンバー」レヴューを書いてみる。 I'm not that much into sappy love stories, but I don’t dislike them either. I'm one of those who feel nowadays teen actors and actresses are being cast in movies that are corny. But the movie A Walk To Remember isn’t that prepackaged teenybopper type film. Before I saw it I thought it was going to be one of those sappy love stories, but I was wrong! It taught me that the value of love can be so sweet, respectful and sincere. There should be more movies that present positive messages to a fastly decaying generation of teens and in which adults may be surprised to find themselves captivated with many chuckles, deep thoughts about life and death, and boxes of tissues for shedding tears next to you. --幸は、感傷的なラブロマンスにはそんなにのめり込んでいないが、嫌いではない。幸自身は、最近の十代の男優や女優は、つまらない映画に出ているなと感じている一人である。しかし、映画「ウォーク・トゥ・リメンバー」はそんなお決まりの十代向け映画ではない。映画を観る前には、これはつまらない感傷的な映画になるだろうなと思っていたが、間違っていた。愛そのものは、とても甘くもあり、重くもあり、純粋でありえる事を学んだ。すぐ崩れがちな十代の若者には明確なメッセージを贈り、大人が観て結構ニタッと笑え、生と死について深く考えられ、そしてティッシュボックスをそばに用意して流れる涙を拭けるような映画がもっとあるべきだと思っている。 This story, by Nicholas Sparks, has made me realize many things concerning love, most especially if you are involved in a relationship. It makes you value and appreciate the gift of love that has been granted from above, to share with that special someone. And also it allowed me to think about life in which you must enjoy the things because you never know when that special someone will go. --ニコラス・スパークス原作の映画を観ると、もし特に異性と交際しているなら、愛について多くの事が分る。愛は天から授かった贈り物で特別な人と分かつものだということを認め感謝するようになる。そして又いつその特別な人が死ぬか全く分らないので、生きている間に人生の多くの事について考えるようになったといえるようになるだろう。 The director is Adam Shankman who did debut with "The Wedding Planner (2001)". Shane West plays the lead role of Landon. He is best known for his roles in those corny teen movies like "Get Over It" and "Whatever It Takes", but with this role he branches off from that genre. He proved himself worthy of being very talented. He has an edge that enriched Landon's character. Shane's smile and his attitude make this character believable. He just made Landon Carter a true person of flesh and blood. --監督は「ウェディング・プランナー」でデヴューしたアダム・シャンクマンだ。 シェーン・ウエストは主役のランドンを演じている。彼は「ゲット・オーヴァー・イット」や「ホワットエヴァー・イット・テイクス」のような十代向けの映画に出てとてもよく知られている。このランドン役で彼は今までの役柄とは違っていく。彼には明らかにとても才能があることが分った。彼には、ランドンを味のある人物にできる鋭さがある。シェーンの微笑みや態度でこの登場人物がもっともらしくなる。彼がランドン・カーターを血も肉もある実際の人間に作り上げたのだ。 Mandy Moore, who is best known as a teen pop singer, plays Jamie, the outwardly plain but lovable character with a sad secret. Frankly speaking, I used not to care about Mandy Moore because I thought of her as a Britney-wannabe. I suppose many were skeptical of Mandy's acting ability, especially after seeing her act in the movie “The Princess Diaries” where she played a ditzy blonde cheerleader. But in this movie “A Walk To Remember” she shines. She did excellent for her first leading role as Jamie. She is worth watching. In the movie she manages to look more beautiful as the disease progresses. Her performance is surprisingly good. She's not fantastic but she deserves some acknowledgment. Mandy does an excellent job as Jamie, making this character one of the best characters in the movie. It is said that she was given praise by the writer of the novel A Walk To Remember, as Shane was too. Also, Mandy sings many songs on the soundtrack, including the songs "Cry" and "Only Hope", both wonderful songs in my opinion. --マンディ・ムーアは、十代のポップ歌手としてとてもよく知られているが、悲しい秘密を持つ極めて普通の、それでいて可愛いジェイミー役を演じる。率直に言って、幸は、マンディ・ムーアはブリトニーになりたがり屋さんの人だと思っていたので関心がなかった。映画「プリティ・プリンセス」でイカレた金髪のチアーリーダーを演じていたのを見たあとでは、特に多くの人が彼女の演技には懐疑的だったと思う。でも、この映画「ウォーク・トゥ・リメンバー」では、彼女は輝いている。彼女はジェイミー役で初めての主役を立派に演じた。彼女は見る価値がある。映画では、病気が進行すればするほど、彼女は上手く美しくなっていく。彼女の演技は驚くほど良い。彼女は凄い美人ではないけれど、認められる価値がある。彼女はジェイミーを立派に演じこの映画の中で一番良い人物に仕上げている。彼女は、シェーン同様、小説「奇跡を信じて」の著者から賛辞を受けたらしい。また、マンディは、「クライ」や「オンリーホープ」などの映画音楽を沢山歌っている。わたし的には、この二曲は素晴らしいと思っている。 Anyway the Chemistry between the lead characters (Shane West and Mandy Moore) is unbelievable. It almost seems as though the attraction and relationship have spilled of the screen and into real life, The movie is a awesome work of the director and crew. Rounding out the cast are Daryl Hannah (Landon's mother, Cynthia Carter), Peter Coyote (Jamie’s father, Reverend Sullivan), Lauren German, Al Thompson, and Clayne Crawford. --とにかく、主役（シェーン・ウエストとマンディ・ムーア）の相性は信じられないほど良い。二人が惹きつけ合って愛し合うさまは、まるでスクリーンから出て実生活でもそうであるかのように大抵は思う。この映画は監督とスタッフで作った素晴らしい作品だ。取り巻きの配役は、ダリル・ハンナ（ランドンの母シンシア・カーター）、ピーター・コヨーテ（ジェイミーの父サリヴァン牧師）、ローレン・ジャーマン、アル・トンプソンそしてクレイン・クロフォードだ。 Now I'm going to write the stolyline in my way (Note to readers: This review contains spoilers. Don't say I didn't warn you.) although the plot has already been summed up on different sites. --さて、物語は色々なサイトで書かれているけれども、わたし的にあらすじを書こうと思っている。（注意：ネタばれがあります。前もって注意しなかったと言わないで下さい。） Landon Rollins Carter (Shane West) narrates. Each spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, he remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Elizabeth Sullivan (Mandy Moore), the girl who changed his life for the better because of her. --ランドン・カーター（シェーン・ウエスト）はナレーションする。ノースカロライナ州のビューフォートの小さな港町に毎年春がやってくると、彼はビューフォート高校三年生の時のこととジェイミー・サリヴァン（マンディ・ムーア）のことを思い出す。彼女は彼の人生を改善してくれたのだ。 Landon is a high school senior, aimless, moody and reckless; he has no plans, no future and no faith in himself, and just hanging around with the school's in-crowd. But Jamie is the straight opposite; she likes to study and believes in faith. She sings in the church choir, builds telescopes, and purposefully dresses out of fashion, always wearing the same ratty blue sweater. She's guileless, serious and conservative and also a religious girl with an inflexible daddy Reverend Sullivan (Peter Coyote) who is a local minister. The good, innocent girl was able to influence the cocky, rebellious guy. --ランドンは、目的もなく、気分屋で向こう見ずで、計画性がなく未来もなく、自分に信念のない高三だ。そして学校で不良仲間とつるんでうろうろしている。しかしジェイミーは全く反対だ。彼女は勉強が好きで、誠実であることに価値を見出だしている。彼女は教会の聖歌隊で歌い、望遠鏡を組み立て、そしていつもみすぼらしい青いセーターを着ているが、考えがあっての流行おくれファッションだ。彼女にはずるいところがなく、真面目で控えめで、地域の牧師である頑固なお父さんのレヴレンド・サリヴァン（ピーター・コヨーテ）と一緒に住んでいて信心深い女の子だ。この善良で無垢な女の子が、ダメな反抗的な男の子を感化することができたのだ。 One day, Landon gets busted for an infraction that involves alcohol and trespassing. After a harmless prank goes terribly wrong, Landon is forced to tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club's spring play as punishment by his school principal. Throughout these two activities Landon is expected to learn the importance of some humility. Jamie was in this Club and meets popular and handsome Landon. --ある日のこと、ランドンはアルコールと不法侵入の違反行為で警察沙汰になる。ちょっとした悪ふざけが事が重大になってしまって、学校の校長先生から罰として、強制的に、みすぼらしい学校の低学年生の個人指導をさせられ、演劇部の春の出し物に参加させられることになる。これらの二つの活動を通じて控えめであることの大切さを学んでもらおうということだ。ジェイミーはこの演劇部にいて、人気者でハンサムなランドンと会うことになる。 Landon falls for the good young woman he and his friends once scorned. Both Landon and Jamie slowly come to fall in love with each other. But she has terminal leukemia and doesn’t have long to live. "Love is like a wind. You can't see it but you can feel it." "Are you scared of death? No. I'm scared of being without you. " This line is so moving... What on earth will happen to the lovable two? --ランドンは、以前友達と一緒に馬鹿にしたこの良い女の子に惚れる。ランドンとジェイミーはゆっくりとお互いが好きになっていく。しかし彼女には末期症状の白血病があり、長く生きられない。 「愛は風のようだわ。見ることができないけど感じれるの。」「死が怖いの？いえ、私はあなたと一緒でいられなくなるのが怖いの。」この台詞はジンとくる。一体この可愛い二人はどうなるのだろうか？ This movie was inspiring to see how Landon's life changed because of Jamie. It teaches us never to underestimate how much 1 person can influence others in positive ways beyond anyone's expectations. It embraces the true meaning of unconditional love. Love is something that shouldn't be taken lightly, neither should life. We should live every moment, each day to the fullest. Above all, it also teaches us to have faith, no matter what. It makes us realize not to take things for granted. Landon: I just wish she would have gotten her miracle. Reverend Sullivan: She did. You were her miracle. This line remains in the bottom of my heart of thousands of rivers of tears for a long time after seeing the movie. --この映画は、ランドンの人生がジェイミーのためにどんな風に変わるかを見ると感銘を受ける。誰の期待より以上にいい意味で、一人の人間がどのくらい他人に影響できるかを過小評価してはいけないと教えてくれる。この映画には絶対的な愛の真の意味が抱合してある。愛は人生同様軽んじてはならない大切なものだ。私たちは精一杯瞬間をそして毎日を生きるべきだ。また、とりわけとにかく信念を持つこと。物事を当たり前のように扱わないことを悟らせてくれる。 ランドン：ボクは彼女が奇跡を起こしてくれればよかったのにと思っています。 レヴレンド・サリヴァン：彼女は起こしたよ。君が彼女の奇跡だよ。 We should not be weak minded to stand the truth about the world, the happy and unhappy things. I think it good that in the beginning it show that sometimes loving someone can mean losing a friend or two. It is much more than a teen movie, it grasps all the important things in life, faith, trust, love... all the elements that most people miss in their lives, I hope that this movie will grasp their heart and has changed the way they view love and the way they view other people. I encourage everyone to see it. Both young and old. How about going to see this tear-jerker movie right early this new year? --幸せも不幸もある世の中の真実を受け止めるには、弱くてはいけない。映画の始めごろに、人を愛することは、友達一人か二人を失うことだと分らせる事はいいことだと思う。この映画はティーンエージャー向けの映画どころではない。人生の重要なもの、すなわち誠実、信念、信頼、愛、すべてを掌握している。これらのものは多くの人が人生で失くしている。この映画が人の心をつかみそして愛の見方と他人への見方を変えられれば良いと思っている。 幸は皆さんに是非観るよう薦めます。若い方にも年輩の方にもです。 新年早々この映画を観て涙を流してください。 |
